The school started its activities only as a Spanish course – El Quijote: español sin fronteras. Its objective was to offer Spanish lessons with a different learning approach, that is - the student would not only learn the language, but also the way of life of people and their culture. So the student would really get into an “immersion” of the language that was being learned.
Moreover, our students learned to respect the different cultures there are in the Spanish spoken countries as well as their peculiarities like: pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, etc.
We started our work in the second semester of 2005, together with the celebration of the 400th anniversary of Don Quixote, by Cervantes, first edition. That is why we decided to give the famous character’s name – Quijote –to our school, as homage to the anniversary of the most important book in both Spanish and world literature.
After one and a half year we increased the number of languages taught at the school which were: Spanish, French, English and Italian. But we guarantee that the methodology and quality will remain the same.
In March, 2010 the school closed its premises in Belo Horizonte, as I started my Masters Degree in Discourse Analysis at Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina). It will be closed temporarily for three (3) years. So now it reopens, but virtually and only teaching Spanish and Portuguese (for foreigners) online, but continuing offering our services in translation for these two languages. (Spanish <> Portuguese)
